The Movement
The AI era has a default setting, and it is centralization: one model, one vendor, one answer — judgment quietly leaving the room it belongs to. We build in the opposite direction. Human + Collective Intelligence Gardening is the practice of combining many human minds with AI agents so a community can see together, think together, and decide together — and every group of people is a living system, which is why reading systems is the craft underneath everything we plant.
We call our integrations democratic because it is a design requirement, not a mood — five properties, written down further along this page in the plainest language we could manage, each one phrased so you can catch us failing it. Community-driven solutions, tended over time. The room is smarter than anyone in it — when the room is tended. This is a social change movement that happens to be very good consulting.
The Practice
Gardening is not a softer word for consulting. It is the accurate word for work on living systems: you cannot install an outcome into a group of people — you can only shape the conditions and tend what grows. Four movements, and the fourth is the one that makes us different.
Before anything is planted: what system already exists, who actually decides, and where the signal dies on its way to them. Most of what a community needs is already in the room, unheard — so the first work is not analysis, it is listening at the right altitude, with the people inside the system rather than about them.
The smallest intervention with the largest effect, placed where the leverage actually is. One agent that can hold the whole picture. One loop closed. One signal finally given somewhere to land. Small and reversible beats sweeping and permanent — a change you cannot undo is a change you cannot learn from.
The movement everyone skips. Systems drift, people leave, and what was right in spring is wrong by autumn. So we come back: prune what overgrew, feed what took, and say out loud what we got wrong. This is where the compounding lives — and why the work is a season, not a slide deck.

The Democratic Charter
Any firm can call itself democratic; the word costs nothing to say. It only means something if you can audit it — so here is what we hold ourselves to on every integration we plant. If we ship something that fails one of these, you have grounds to say so out loud. That is the point of writing them down.
Every agent answers to the people it serves. It can be questioned, corrected, overruled, or switched off by the group it works for. Authority is delegated to it, never transferred.
Decisions stay at the smallest level that can hold them. A system that quietly pulls judgment upward — because aggregating is easier than trusting — is not an integration. It is a takeover with better UX.
The community owns what grows: the data, the memory, the models shaped by its own work. You should be able to walk away holding your intelligence, not a subscription to it.
Minority signal is first-class, never smoothed away. A system that only measures agreement is measuring nothing — disagreement is the most honest data a group produces, so we instrument it on purpose.
Anyone affected can see why the system said what it said. If you cannot inspect the reasoning, you are not participating in a decision — you are complying with one.

She holds a canonical baseline that versions and evolves, so what she learns in one engagement is not lost by the next.

Donella Meadows' twelve leverage points, run as a working procedure — stocks, flows, loops and delays mapped before any lever is named. A naive answer names; hers maps, places, checks, predicts.
Every read declares its grain — macro structure, or one instance walked step by step — then crosses once to check itself. A system read at one altitude is a rumour about the other.
The consequence cascade: what happens second, what happens slowly, and the tripwires that say the prediction is failing. Three clocks running, never just one.
